Frequently Asked Questions

What is Holistic Nutrition?

A Registered Holistic Nutritionist (R.H.N.) is a professional trained in Natural Nutrition whose principal function is to educate individuals and groups about the benefits and health impact of optimal nutrition. A Holistic Nutritionist addresses the interrelationship between the body, mind and the spirit, and the uniqueness to each individual.

Holistic Nutritionists work with clients to identify and correct the nutritional root causes of disease, and create an approach that will help restore balance for the individual. They work with whole foods and natural supplements to develop a plan for the client and work at a pace that is suitable for them. They utilize whole foods that are natural, alive and good quality – unprocessed, unrefined and rich in nutrients.

Although most people are aware of the benefits of sound nutrition, the range of conflicting information available to the consumer is often confusing. Holistic Nutritionists guide their clients through this maze of information, and work to design personalized diet and lifestyle programs that optimize health.

Do you create all of your own recipes?

Yes, absolutely! I try to keep my cooking simple, quick and tasty and want to share all of those recipes with you too.

What types of recipes do you offer?

My website if full of paleo and vegetarian recipes, the one thing they have in common is that they are all made with whole foods. I try to keep my recipes low allergenic (gluten-free and dairy-free) so they are accommodating for everyone.

Why don't your recipes include calories?

The easiest way to read a nutrition label is to not read it at all. I do not believe in calorie counting or crash diets, I believe in eating real nourishing food, and when you do that, the rest will take care of itself.

What type of diet do you follow?

I don’t define my diet in any particular way, I simply do two things; I eat real food and I listen to my body. I do my best to eat whole foods, cook from scratch and shop local whenever I can. My dietary needs have changed over the years, and I’m sure they will shift again, so I listen to my body and give it what it is asking for.

Are you a trained chef?

Not at all! I learned to cook the old-fashioned way; a little from my mom, watching the Food Network, searching YouTube videos and a lot of trial and error.

Do you offer public speaking services?

Absolutely! Public speaking is a passion of mine and love working with groups large and small. I offer public speaking services, private seminar and workshops to organization and businesses.

Can I work with you individually?

Of course. I work at two locations in the city of Ottawa offering individual consultation. Be sure to check out my Work with Me pages for more information.
